In partnership with the Personal Democracy forum (PdF), Civico first unveiled its evolutionary digital democracy service during the European PdF from the iconic Torre Agbar in Barcelona.

The PdF Forum is the world's largest conference on politics and technology, where technologists, politicians and journalists come together to explore how technology and the Internet are changing politics, democracy, and society.

Policy makers are using the Internet to open up politics and make governance more transparent, participatory and effective. The PdF is the political forum that is leading this agenda.

Lord Carter, Digital Britain Report

From Birmingham's prestigious ICC, Civico Live provided live streaming and social media integration for Lord Carter’s national launch of the Digital Britain report, which set a blueprint for economic growth driven by the UK’s digital creative industries.

The ICC launch and debate was the first opportunity for regional experts and stakeholders to review the report’s contents and to quiz Lord Carter on its recommendations. The audience included representatives from the region’s thriving digital economy including the media, telecoms, creative, technology and education sectors.

In the afternoon the event divided into four panel debates on digital inclusion, infrastructure, content and research and innovation. The panels were chaired by Stephen Dodson, director of DC10 Plus; Chris Price, director of Digital Birmingham; Birmingham Post editor Marc Reeves and Channel 4’s Tom Loosemoore.

Hello Digital World Conference

Hello Digital is the Midlands digital media festival enabling participants to explore the modern world and open doors to new possibilities.

Simultaneously live streaming from four cities across the world, the Hello Digital conference aimed to enable the widest possible audience to engage with digital content and technologies. It offered a wealth of high profile speakers from the region and beyond; Creative industries minister Sion Simon MP, Channel 4's Jon Gisby, Nick Appleyard from the Technology Strategy Board.

The final inspiring session was delivered by David Rowan editor of UK Wired Magazine and provided the audience with a global review and vision of where digital media is going.

In addition to providing the live stream and complete social media strategy for this event, Civico provided the live links to China, Rome and Seattle.

Developing the Digital District

This event looked to learn from the experiences of other European cities.

Birmingham's Digital District is bringing together the innovative, learning and creative sectors in the Eastside area of the city through the development of a next generation high-speed broadband infrastructure.

This seminar provided an early opportunity for policy makers and stakeholders from Birmingham and the West Midlands to quiz other major European cities further in their journey in developing their own digital district.

This lively dialogue informed Birmingham's policy thinking and ideas as the city embarks upon.

Civico provided full on demand media streaming and social media integration for the event.

Gov Camp

GobCamp is a local government un-conference for workers in the Spanish public administration and anyone else interested in the topic.

Many people want the public administration to change, to become an open, agile, dynamic, transparent, collaborative, participatory organisation; an administration close to the citizen, which is a bank of shared knowledge with a horizontal structure.

The main aim of GobCamp Spain is to bring together all those who are working towards change in local government to discuss what they are doing. Society is changing and both citizens and workers in local government are going to demand change, local authority must respond to this demand. GobCamp will explore how that change can happen.

UB40 ‘Raise the Roof’ Concert

As part of a ‘Live, Loud and Local’ campaign Brian Travers and the UB40 band collaborated with the Rainbow Pub, Birmingham by playing a one-off gig at the venue. Brian and the band believe that live, local music is vital to the city and its cultural life. Their performance at the Rainbow Pub served to draw attention to this issue.

Civico through the Rhubarb Radio platform live streamed the concert to an astonishing global audience.

The Sandwell Partnership Annual Conference – “Proud”

The Sandwell Partnership is Sandwell's Local Strategic Partnership, sometimes known as the LSP. The Partnership is made up of senior people from Sandwell's key public, private, community and voluntary organisations.

The title for their annual conference was “Proud”. Under the headings of Great People, Great Places and Great Prospects, delegates at the venue and those attending online were invited to share in the things that we are proud of in Sandwell.

The conference offered the opportunity to listen to key speakers from a number of organisations during what was a lively, fun and informative day.
